Consul-General
Md. Shamsul Haque joined Bangladesh Foreign Service in 1988. Before taking over
as Bangladesh Consul General in Los Angeles in July 2005, he served as
Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission in Bangladesh Embassy in Moscow.
During his diplomatic career spanning over 18 years, Mr. Haque served at
various capacities in Bangladesh Missions in Abu Dhabi, Seoul and Singapore
as well as in Bangladesh Foreign Ministry in Dhaka.
Mr. Haque
represented Bangladesh in various international, regional and bilateral
fora, including at the 54th United Nations General Assembly in
New York, meetings on Conference of Child Rights in Katmandu, meetings on
Conference on International Vaccine Institute in Seoul etc.
Mr. Haque
holds three post graduate degrees i.e. an MBA from Nanyang Technological
University in Singapore, an MA in International Relations from the Fletcher
School of Law and Diplomacy in Massachusetts, USA, and an MA in English
Literature from Dhaka University in Bangladesh. He also received
professional trainings at in Bangladesh and in different countries.

Haque is married to Mrs. Arifa Sultana Haque and they have one daughter,
Noor, and two sons, Shan and Shabab.
