I am very pleased to know that the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Los Angeles is going to launch its website aiming at rendering diverse, faster, advanced and forward-looking services to the members of Bangladesh Community in Los Angeles and other areas in the United States. Besides, the launching of this website would provide an opportunity for internet users from all over the world to know more about Bangladesh.

The present Government under the able leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is committed to ensure and enhance the facilities for the welfare of the expatriates. Legal and moral assistance to expatriate Bangladeshis during the Special Registration Program of the USA in 2003, setting up of Sonali Exchange Company Inc. in 1994 to simplify remittance procedure, enactment of the Anti-Money Laundering Act to encourage the expatriate to remit money through legal channel, introducing Biman flight in Dhaka- Los Angeles-Dhaka route, establishment of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment to look after the welfare of the expatriates exclusively, allotment of RAJUK plots for the expatriates and floating of Dollars bonds are a few of them. Launching of the website of the Consulate General of Bangladesh, Los Angeles is another item added to this list.

The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Los Angeles is working under the guidance of our Embassy in Washington to strengthen US-Bangladesh mutual understanding and expand trade and investments. I believe that this website will facilitate promoting these goals and objectives of the Consulate General by providing a wide-range of information about its services and activities as well as useful links to all aspects of trade, investment, remittance, culture, economy, government, media and tourism of Bangladesh. I hope the website will continue to be developed with essential information in time to meet the growing needs of the Bangladesh Community in Los Angeles and elsewhere in the United States.
